Our Process

We aim for complete transparency in everything we do from start to finish. Below you will find a general overview for how you can expect the process to go. As with any project, the steps can be affected by a number of factors, but we will keep you updated every step of the way so that you are always current on what's happening.

1. Prepare Drawings or Blueprints

This first step is for our Designers to prepare the official Plans or Drawings required to obtain a Building Permit. These drawings must be clear and precise, and comply with all Building Codes. This can be a time-consuming process and usually takes 1-2 weeks. During this time we will also assist you in applying for HOA approval if needed.

2. Project Planning

While the plans of Drawings are being prepared, our Project Manager will begin planning your project, and scheduling work crews and materials. This process involves many moving parts, but once planning is complete we’ll let you know when we expect to start, and will keep you updated about our Project Schedule. Keep in mind that things can change quickly with weather, suppliers, and construction crews.

3. Apply for Building Permit

Our Project Manager will work to obtain a Building Permit for your project. Approval times can vary from 3 days to 3 weeks. In order to expedite your project we will generally apply for a Building Permit even if HOA approval has not yet been received. This allows us to get a head start. Should your HOA reject the project, any lost permitting fees will be borne by us.

4. Project Handoff Meeting

Our Project Manager will schedule an on-site Project Handoff meeting with the Design Consultant, the construction foreman, and you. You are welcome to attend, but it is not required. During this meeting we will discuss your project and any particular conditions which may exist, including where materials are to be stored, the extent of the area to be disturbed, and an access path to the site.

5. Materials Delivery

Most of the materials for your project will arrive about a week or so before we expect to begin work. Again, this is a dynamic process. Some materials may arrive earlier, and others may be delayed, or even cause us to delay the project a bit. We try to get as much material on site as possible, so that once we start working we can keep at it until we’re done.

6. Begin Construction

Now it gets exciting as you begin to see progress! Most of our projects start with demolition of an existing deck. Naturally it’s sad to see your old deck disappear, but after all of the work is done and the debris is cleaned up, the new deck will make everything right again!

7. Completion!

Before you know it, you will be enjoying your new custom deck. We aim to earn a 5-Star review/rating when we’re finished, so please let us know anytime you are unhappy with what we’re doing or how we’re doing it.
